Oscar E. Flores Design Studio

Growing up in Piedras Negras, Coahuila, Mexico—just south of Texas along the Rio Grande—Oscar E. Flores dreamed of becoming a designer.

“Ever since I was young, I always knew I wanted to design homes and buildings,” he says, adding that the dream compelled him to bravely stick to his convictions from an early age. “It’s not easy at first to convince your teachers or clients about your vision and designs, especially when your ideas are different. But if you’re really passionate, stick to it. Sooner or later people will get it.”

Over time, he married his longtime sweetheart Mayela and settled in San Antonio, where they currently raise their two girls and where his vision has truly soared.

With his business, Oscar E. Flores Design Studio (OFDS), Oscar is known for his modern design styles and has boldly set new design trends in both residential and commercial spaces. His very favorite designs, though, are the ones that capture his customers’ visions.

“Our mission is to provide every client with high quality and innovative designs, provide them with a gratifying design experience, and provide exceptional service with honesty, respect and integrity,” he says. “We want our clients’ homes to be everything they dreamed, whether that’s something traditional, transitional, or altogether outside the box.”

As his clients’ visions expanded, so did OFDS. Mayela, who had established a computer science career at USAA, decided to step in to help the business as it grew.

“We had an accountant/bookkeeper but, suddenly, after a particularly successful year, we faced paying so many taxes that we couldn’t believe it. It was time to change how we were running the business,” she recalls.

A builder Oscar worked with recommended Steven Bankler, CPA, Ltd., and the rest is history.

It’s been great. They’re so helpful and organized. With the coronavirus shutdown, they’ve been quick to send information and contact us about relief loans and other opportunities. They even hold conference calls for clients to update us on the latest tax changes.”

It’s a winning design that can help OFDS build a solid foundation for the future. Learn more about Oscar E. Flores Design Studio at ofdesignstudio.com
