Joseph Lukowski has worked tirelessly serving others his entire life. Born and raised in Chicago by a single mom, he held a full-time job during high school before graduating with honors from the University of Arizona and being commissioned into the U.S. Air Force as an officer.

He met his wife Claudia while serving at the Pentagon and they married in 1999. In his 20 years in the Air Force, he was able to see the world—spending nearly six years living in places like South Korea, the U.K., Honduras, Afghanistan, and Iraq. But by 2008—with two children in tow—the Lukowski family was ready to say goodbye to military life and settle down.

That’s when Laredo Technical Services, Inc. (LTSI) took flight.

At the time, I didn’t know how to run a business. My reason for starting from scratch had more to do with being personally independent rather than being financially independent,” Lukowski admits. “Today I have both.”

LTSI is a San Antonio-based 8a-graduated small business, certified small disadvantaged business (SDB), and ServiceDisabled Veteran owned (SDVOSB) Minority Business Enterprise (MBE). Lukowski has been able to grow the business to 87 local and overseas employees by providing IT, business process re-engineering, and medical staffing support to clients.

His friend and colleague Jeremy Calvert, CEO of Vighter Medical, introduced him to Steven Bankler.

“Jeremy insisted on several occasions that I meet Steven, who he told me was the premier subject matter expert in San Antonio for tax matters,” Lukowski recalls. “I was actually grieving when I left Steven’s office that first time because I wish that I had known him years sooner.”

The Steven Banker, CPA, Ltd., team was able to adjust Lukowski’s filing for the previous tax year and recover taxes he’d overpaid. He’s been working with Steven and the team ever since. Learn more about Laredo Technical Services, Inc. at laredotechnical.com
