LAW Security

A terrifying home invasion involving men with masks and guns set Pam Wood on an unexpected path to business ownership in 1981. The ordeal left Pam with more questions than answers about safety and security for her family, an uncertainty that she was determined to fix for others in her community.

“I did my research and quickly realized that there was an unmet need for burglary alarms in San Antonio. People needed a solution,” she recalls.

Pam admits that, as a young mom at the time, she had every reason not to take on the challenge of starting a business, but she did. And the rest is history.

LAW Security became a local leader in high-end home and commercial security systems, helping to establish San Antonio’s first Underwriter’s Laboratory (UL) Listed central monitoring station.

Over the years, the company has built long-standing relationships with both customers and employees. The average tenure among the LAW Security team is 15 years.

Pam’s son Louis was barely a toddler at the time of the home invasion. Today, he’s a vice president who has helped lead the company for over 20 years.

Pam credits him as a critical force behind LAW Security’s recent growth and expansion, which has included embracing new technologies like entire-home automation and facial recognition.

“It’s an exciting time for technology integration, but we continue to balance that with customer needs,” Louis explains.
“Our customers can now control things with an app on their phones, but our local monitoring and service still sets us apart. Customers know their technicians and request them by name. We continue to lean into that personalized approach—we meet them where they are or where they desire to be.”

Louis met Steven Bankler at a local peer business group. Impressed by Steven’s off-the-cuff ideas, Louis brought the Bankler team on board to help lay the groundwork for LAW Security’s push into the future.

What was born from a jarring, unsettling event has become a staple of safety and security in the San Antonio community.
